After reading this entire post and about 3 others that google returned, I finally fixed the problem. It was all about the browser cache. If you follow the instructions about altering this:

$cfg['Servers'][$i]['password'] = ''; // MySQL password (only needed
// with 'config' auth_type "

file. You will probably still continue to get the error until you clear the cache.

Hope it works for you... I can finally breathe again.

For some reason my topic about the 2002-error code has been removed?


I can't seem to find it anywhere, very strange.


I'm a noob when it comes to this, but I have experienced the same issues when trying to open phpMyAdmin.

I was hoping that someone could explain to me how to solve this error code (2002)-issue in babysteps...
