Hello all, noob here:

I have WAMP5 Version 2.0 with mysql 5.0.45 and I was trying to create my very first table ever through the console. I was able to CREATE DATABASE, but everything after that gave me nothing but syntax errors.

You might think that the commands I entered might be appropriate to see now, except that after that I went into PHPmyadmin ( version 2.10.1) (which I am also a noob @) and tried to create the table there. This also created nothing but mysql syntax errors.

So what gives? Do I have a version issue between mysql and phpmyadmin? Or do I have an old version of myql that I am learning new syntax for? Or should I just nuke everything and upgrade to wampserver2?

I am running a Dell laptop on windows XP SP2 if that makes a difference.

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!

All the best:

Hi,

An error message about a syntax error in MySQL means that the statement indeed has a syntax error. If in doubt, copy and paste both the exact statement and the full error message here and someone will be able to interpret it for you.
