I have just installed WAMP ver 2 after uninstalling WAMP 5 which was working just as fine. I have everything installed and setup just as fine except MySQL which has this in its log:

081010 15:39:30 InnoDB: Error: unable to create temporary file; errno: 9
081010 15:39:30 [ERROR] Default storage engine (InnoDcool smiley is not available
081010 15:39:30 [ERROR] Aborting

081010 15:39:30 [Note] wampmysqld: Shutdown complete

I tried removing and installing the service and then restarting all services, stopped all services and then Started All services but MySQL wouldn't just connect...

Where am I going wrong?
Help pls.

This might be caused by error in mysql config file. I had similar problem, when I edited my config file with MySQL Administrator GUI tool.

But I didn't do anything beyond Pressing Next Next including default folder/directory structure of C:\Wamp on my WinXP machine...

well i did remove the folder since it did let the BIN and WWW folder remain there. But nothing of registries or anything that I knew of... what did I have to remove from previous installation and can it be done now as there's a new installation of WAMP2

Voila!
That worked. I had to do what all you just said.

Thanks a lot for your patient answers, yfastud. Much appreciated.
