WampServer

sum1 plz help,
i can't run wamp server (WampServer2.0a.exe; 19.4M on my windows.
wamp server installs normally.
runs like normal.
icon shows everything's running & server's also online.
but doesn't open localhost @ any cost.....says............,"page load error" (or sth like that).........
using win vista (ultimate) N firefox 3.1 as default.

Hi, I have tried to get this working as well, and am having major problems. When I went on localhost, the IIS services came on, not WAMP, so I went in to IIS and stopped it running, hoping that WAMP would come up, but no success.

Suggestions please!!

Theory, you can have both, but IIS and Apache/Wamp are both web server and might conflict in some way, so you have to disable IIS in order for Wamp to work

Disable IIS in Vista:

Control Panel, Uninstall Programs, Turn Widows Features On or Off, uncheck Internet Information Services

Disable IIS in XP:

Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs, Add/Remove Windows Components, uncheck Internet Information Services (IIS)

Restart computer, then restart Wamp

Where can we read your recommended "Most Common Errors" section?
My wamp comes with an yellow status after installing on Vista. Not sure what is wrong though...

IIS and Wamp uses the same port (80). Try to configure IIS or Wamp to use other port, like 8080 or other. Restart both and............. voi-la! Your Wamp server cames out the yellow status.

then you always have to include that port in url and also loose ability to use others such as ftp, ssl, webdav, so on

Hello,

I am new to the php thing and to test things that i learn in php i have been told to install wamp. i have done this on a vista pc and it all look ok but when i test that its running by typing [localhost] into a browser i get nothing. the icon in the task bar is white and not yellow like some people in the forum say it should be.
i have turned off iis but still nothing. i have also disabled any firewalls but still nothing.

Any help would be greatly appreaciated,

Please, did you solve your problem ... it sounds as though it is mine also ... and it is driving me crazy as everything looks as though it should be alright ... but nothing but a blank screen when I [localhost] . I feel as though I have done everything. help

did you try to run wamp w/o any firewall?

Tried that: didn't work. Decided to uninstall and install again. THIS TIME after the installation I couldn't even turn on the server or get php mysql to appear as on (and the firewall is off) Message read:''Aestan Tray Menu:
Could not execute menu item (internal error) [Exception] Could not perform service action. The service has not been started." No kidding.

PLEASE HELP. And by the way,my next step will be to install JOOMLA in the www root directory. Is there anything special I need to know or to avoid to quarentee success?

first, after uninstalling, rename/remove wamp folder, search and delete wamp registries which are wampapache and wampmysl, restart computer before re-installing wamp, then follow my guides here

OK. Let's take this over again ... Thought I uninstalled everything everywhere, restarting the computer at everystep. Still doesn't work: same message. BUT it is true I COULDN'T FIND REGISTRIES WAMPAPACHE and WAMPMYSL though I put in a search for them. WHERE DO I FIND THEM? This can't be as difficult as it seems.

how did you do it? you must search in registry by run command regedit, then search, and be careful w/ registry, you do it wrong, your computer will not run no more, then you have to reinstall the whole windows :-(
