Authentication Required when opening localhost. Why?

Just installed WanpServer 2. Why do I get a dialog box asking for authentication when I try to open localhost?

How can I find out which is my username and password?

Thank You!

Odin

Yep, there are more Server programs running.

Probably IIS, so do this:

1. Go to start > run > type services.msc > enter.
2. Search for "IIS-Control" or anything starting with "IIS"
3. click it and stop the service, set it to manual so it wont start everytime you reboot.

Now WAMP should work without logging in winking smiley

Or you may try this...

1. My Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs > Add/Remove Windows Components.
2. Uncheck Internet Information Services (IIIS)
3. Next....Finish.

That's what I did.

Just to turn it off go to start->control panel->administrative tools (might be under perform. and maint)->internet info. services.

click web sites - right click on default web site and choose stop.

this just stops the service temp. you can turn it back on whenever you want so you can switch between them easily. also, if instead of IIS you go to services, you can choose whether to have IIS start by default with windows (automatically) or only when you go turn it on(manual) (you turn it back on the same way as turning it off)

After uninstalling IIS, you can install it back as long as having XP OS disk in hand; however, disable only might run into some problem since some ports and services reserved for IIS won't be released to use w/ wamp when you need it
