I installed WAMP server 2.0 on my brand new Vista laptop. When i try to access localhost i get an error message that sais "the web page cannot be found" but i can access the ip adress (127.0.0.1)
I have installed WAMP server 2.0 on an XP computer and it works perfect! I had AVG before but I uninstalled it and my computor came with IIS but i switched it off.
Does anyone have a clue what the problem is?
Please help me!

The file in Vista is the c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts and it seems to have an extra entry in it, which seems to be causing the problem. Mine had this in it:
127.0.0.1 localhost ::1 localhost
I just commented out the second entry, and that fixed the issue. I didn't even need to reboot.
im having a similar problem except its the other way around: when i type in [localhost] it takes me to the right page but then if i use my ip address it says it can't be loaded. any tips or suggestions?
I donwloaded and installed php/apache/mysql on my new dell latitude XP home edition. I am currently simply trying to run a "hello world" php script and I get "page not found" in the web browser. I created the script with notepad and it has a php extension but is seen as a text document by the system. Is that an issue or is something else not configured correctly? I also created a test directory under wamp/www and installed the script there. This test directory does show up on the wamp localhost home page.
Do I need to do something with making changes to an .ini files, etc?
What am I missing? Any suggestions would be appreciated.
