Hi,

Go to the DOS command prompt, change directory to where go-pear.bat is and run it from the command line. That works all right.

hi toivo, thanks for the reply.

i just did that and i've been asked about some config paths:

Microsoft Windows XP [Version 5.1.2600]
(C) Copyright 1985-2001 Microsoft Corp.

C:\Documents and Settings\rbermudez.DELEGAIT.COM>d:

D:\>cd wamp\bin\php\php5.2.5

D:\wamp\bin\php\php5.2.5>go-pear

Are you installing a system-wide PEAR or a local copy?
(system|local) [system] :

Below is a suggested file layout for your new PEAR installation. To
change individual locations, type the number in front of the
directory. Type 'all' to change all of them or simply press Enter to
accept these locations.

1. Installation base ($prefix) : D:\wamp\bin\php\php5.2.5
2. Temporary directory for processing : D:\wamp\bin\php\php5.2.5\tmp
3. Temporary directory for downloads : D:\wamp\bin\php\php5.2.5\tmp
4. Binaries directory : D:\wamp\bin\php\php5.2.5
5. PHP code directory ($php_dir) : D:\wamp\bin\php\php5.2.5\pear
6. Documentation directory : D:\wamp\bin\php\php5.2.5\pear\docs
7. Data directory : D:\wamp\bin\php\php5.2.5\pear\data
8. Tests directory : D:\wamp\bin\php\php5.2.5\pear\tests
9. Name of configuration file : D:\myxampp\xampp\php\pear.ini
10. Path to CLI php.exe :

1-10, 'all' or Enter to continue:

the problem is #9. i don't have that path anymore. what should i put?

also #10. what path shall i put?

Hi,

Looks like you have made good progress. You would not be able to run XAMPP at the same time as WAMP, I think, in which case you can just accept the default in #9.

The php.exe file which runs the Command Line Interface (CLI) scripts is in the folder c:\wamp\bin\php\php5.2.5.

Have seen a lot of people had hard time to get wamp running properly after used and even uninstalled xampp; you should check w/ them how to completely remove it before installing wamp

hi. thanks all for your replies.

i managed to install pear successfully using wampserver (yey!!!)

i just forgot that there were environment variables created by xampp when i tried to install PEAR in xampp. so i have to delete those in my registry using RegEdit. then i restarted my pc. then back to installing PEAR using go-pear.bat in the command prompt. everything went smoothly as i just keep on using the default values.

cheers.

Click Start -> Run

Type regedit (the Win Registry Editor pops up)

doubleclick HKEY_CURRENT_USER

click Environment

in the right panel of the editor, you will see the environment variables xampp created. right-click the names created by xampp, then select Delete

close the editor, then restart.

important: be careful in deleting name-values here. if you delete a wrong name-value pair, your windows might fail.

A couple of queries.

I'm trying to install an app which requires Pear and this thread was most helpful in getting that completed..

I've gone through the install process of Pear and all appears as it should ... I think.

Went back and completed a pre install check on the app and I'm told "Checking PEAR is installed: False" along with another 5 Pear modules giving the same message.

How do I check that when WAMP starts that it's loading Pear?
Any ideas why it's not loading?

Hi,

You need to install the PEAR modules individually. Have a look at the instructions on my personal website at [toivo.talikka.com].
