moving the default index.php

I would like to move/secure the default WAMP index.php file so that when others access my computer they do not see this page. I know I can change the name or just replace it with a new index file but I doubt that is very secure. If I simply replace the file how would I access the "tools" and other items on the default page? This is only for Intranet use but I know all too well that "others" can and will cause mass destruction if you just give them the chance. This seems so basic to me but I cannot find anyone discussing the issue.

I have read your tutorial ...but... I do not have a registered domain name for the intranet site nor do i want to purchase 7 domains to accommodate all the office computers. Why do I need one when they can access my computer by using it's IP or Name to gain access?
