WampServer

I have shut WAMP down and restarted it andthe icon is now white, duh!

The error message reads

#1045 - Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: YES)

ok open up


config.in.php


in c:/wamp/alis/phpmyadmin


search for the word root


under it u will see a line like

password = 'xxxxx'


leave it blank

password = ''

then empty browser history and try again

I done a search but root was not found in c:/wamp/alias/phpmyadmin

lol no


a file called config.inc.php in this folder


search for root in this file

There are just 2 files in the Alias folder phpmyadmin.conf and sqlitemanager.conf

Done and sorted but it now says

Your configuration file contains settings (root with no password) that correspond to the default MySQL privileged account. Your MySQL server is running with this default, is open to intrusion, and you really should fix this security hole.

dont worry about this. this is not really a problem if ur only using ur server for home use. and evene art that the folder phpmyadmin is blocked from outside access..


but if u want to change it


in phpmyadmin there is a button called privledges. press it


u will see a list of users

the one with root you should edit

add a password. and save it
then open that config file again and add the password to the line u emptied.

BINGO!!

Thank you for your solid patience! I hope that I can get to grips with the rest of the job without having to bother you anymore, but at least hopefully this will help others with similar problems!

Actually, it's not a very good habit to hard code password in file config.in.php because you never know if someday someone, including hackers :-(, might use your computer, so if you really feel very comfortable w/ this setups, leave it as is, but if you like a "little" security, take out password in file config.in.php and follow from step 6 of my Setup Password guide ;-)

if hackers have access to ur computer then they can get ur databases anyway!

It will only be myself using this computer so no one will be able to change it. My main concerns are when I attach it to my website and therein lies another challenge! lol
