Access denied for Root user

Hi all,

I accidentally set a password to my local Root user, and subsequently I can no longer access phpMyAdmin. I have tried setting the password in the config file, but to no avail. Can anyone please help me to either remove the root password, or otherwise access my phpMyAdmin?

Thanks so much,
Frank

the only way you can really get by this is to close wampserver and make sure mysql service is ended

, delete the user tables in the mysql database found at ....

c:wamp\mysql\data\mysql -

delete the 3files

user.frm

user.MYI

user.MYD

then replace them with original copies.

iv uploaded the basic 3 files up onto my server for you, u can download them from there.

copy them back into the folder and restart the server. and ur back in!

this is the link to the files [pampserver.com]

Dear Steven,

I did what you suggested, and it solved my problem. Thank you very much for that!

For my own understanding, why is it that this works, whereas a total re-install of wampserver did not solve the problem?

Thanks again,
Frank

i cant actually answer that for you, i have no idea why uninstalling wouldnt work.

the only thing i can think of is that you didnt uninstall it properly. when you unistall wamp

the folder wamp is still left with some files in it including databases,

installing wamp again - must not overwrite files of the same file name,

you need to delete this folder before reinstalling.

glad i could help anyway
