WAMP Vista problems

Hey guys.

I've just installed WAMP 2.0 on vista, and I have some issues.

Firstly, I can't right click the icon in the bottom right (the active tasks tray.. thing.. next to the clock. I never did know what that was called.) Well, I *can*, but no menu comes up. Double clicking it also does nothing. When I hover over it, it tells me 2 of 2 services are running, but the server is offline.

Secondly, I've gone into httpd just by navigating in the WAMP folder, and changed every instance of "deny from all" to "allow from all", and yet it still won't accept foreign connections. Any ideas?

Thanks.

If using vista 64, try this:

Using your desire text editor to open file wampmanager.conf in folder c:/wamp

Enclose the path in line four and five w/ double quote, for example:

installDir = "C:/wamp"
navigator = "C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\Firefox.exe"

If this trick works for you, it's credited to darrell9026

Yes, it works! Thank you very much.

Kind of a weird problem, isn't it? Especially since reading what its install directory is shouldn't be a problem, considering the config file it reads from is in the install directory...

Have you tried single clicking the WAMP tray icon?

I did the trick with the quotes as sugested which turned the server on but in my case the taskbar icon is 3/4 yellow and returns the HTTP 404

I've just noticed when turning off the server by using the PUT OFFLINE taskbar option it returns an alert saying:

Could not execute menu item. (internal error)
[Execption] Could not perform service action:
The service has not been started

With the latest build (2.0b), the paths in wampmanager.conf are already enclosed in double quotes.
So this click menu problem is still an issue on Win 2k (sp 4 + current updates)
