Hi all,

I installed the latest version of wampserver just a few minutes before, At the time of installation I filled
SMTP as smtp.gmail.com, and ,
myemails@gmail.com as email address,

Now I want to know how to test this installation, that is, how to send emails using Wamp2.0.

I am not a tech guy, if some of you enlightened tech gods can handhold me or teach me
how to do this I would be really greatful.

I hope Im not asking for too much here.

Thanks and regards
Amit,
India

Hi
Thanks for the email,
I know Wamper has no SMTP server, what Im doing is this,

I have an Opensource(made in A.M.P) ATS called CATS which is freeley available at www.catsone.net
It can send emails, it works with Wamper coz it needs Apache,MySQL and Php.

In it's interface configuration there is a place where er have to input the email and email SMTP server config.
I key in the same thing as I did when I installed Wamper, the glitch is:

It does works fine but when it comes to emails...CATS shows email has been sent but there is no email in my gmail box.

BTW CATS gets hosted on localhost(WAMPER).

I think I have told pretty much everything here.

Regards
Amit

Hi,

Does your ISP allow you to connect to SMTP port 25? Some ISPs block traffic to port 25 as a measure against spam.

Hi,
You are being unreasonable here....I have told you everything, where does the ISP comes in, Gmail works on SMTP w/Auth so port would be 465/995 for Imap it could be different.

I am using an localhosted application which has an inbuilt email mechanism that is working fine, so.....!

I wanted to know if there is some way I can chek whether Wamper is doing its bit or not, that is whether Wamp is sending my emails or not.

Please read the problem carefully and don't act in haste, if you can't answer it then sitting quiet is what I recommend.

Amit

He he .... he he .... ;-)

Sure that mail can be used w/ wamp, but different people have different ways to implement mail, some people might use it w/ their isp mail server, some others might use phpmail class or other similar programs, while some others might install mail server just like I did, so you try it your way then post here how it goes.

How would I go about configuring my php to use My ISP account to send mail?

It allows connections on port 25 to send mail and 110 to receive it. Also, I have an exchange account that I can use if I need to.

A link or a short how to will be appreciated. Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
