ok guys

I came down a severe problem regarding latest WAMP and all other version.

1. I started the wamp manager and started my website.( i used wamp server as production server on my own computer with NO-IP DUC for free subdomain)

2. I went to [f9t.net] and entered my subdomain like i.e: mydomain.net and hit the surf button 3 or more than 3 times say 5 times which opened 5 instances for surfing my site.

3. The website didn't opened at all.

4. Then i checked my wamp manager. Then i put my website offline through WAMP manager .>>> what i saw is when i put it on offline the apache server was not running in WAMP manager. but i checked the task manager there was a file running named httpd.exe
then i checked my firewall there was also a file running and using port 80. (Both the Task manager and firewall httpd.exe file was having different PID). i tried to kill the httpd.exe from everything but it did not get killed. (it gets hidden)

5. then i tried to start the apache server again from WAMP manager. It did not start.

6. I tried the cmd prompt to start the apache server(httpd.exe) the error showed was : 2 instances of httpd.exe cannot be started port 80 is also been used by httpd.exe and still my firewall was showing httpd.exe on port 80 but there was nothing in task manager.

7. i was hopeless what is the problem i cannot start the apache server.. U GUYS CAN TRY THIS THIS ON UR COMPUTER and check it out

8. CONCLUSION : u have to resrat ur computer in order to run the apache server again this is insane.

I need help to resolve this problem

Actually, you don't have to shut down computer, just left click to stop all services, then right click to exit it. To restart, access through Windows Start menu

i think you don't actually read my post carefully ...

i told that the httpd.exe was not killed it was runnign even after i exit the wamp server...

so there was nothing i can do else restarting my comp.. wamp cannot run two instances of httpd.exe server at once..

correct me if i am wrong

It's normal to 2 instances of httpd.exe, and after doing as I've already stated, both of them and all other related instances will shut down; if not, you might have a little problem w/ your system

yes i know its 2 istances of httpd.exe is normal but when u use tht site [f9t.net] to browse ur website.. n click on surf buton 4 or 5 times it kicks ur wamp server. n ur website comes down

n when u put ur wamp server offline u'll see tht ur wamp manager will tell u tht ur apache server is not running and there will be a yellow thing in the icon....

then when u'll stop all the services and exit the wamp server. n when u 'll see the task manager u'll notice tht httpd.exe is still running if u'll go to administrative services from control panel n see the wamp apache server u'll find it is off. but still i cannot find how httpd.exe is still running and using a port 80

i think here come a vulnerability in wamp why dont u try it urself

1. make urwebsite online from ur home.
2.browse ur website from [f9t.net] and click surf atleast 5 times quickly ... then again browse ur website by simple typing ur website name in browser.
3. ur website will be down.. i guess

its ok if you don't want to use these proxy servers..

but my point was how will u check that ur website is working fine from other computers outside ur network i think its the only way..or else u have to go to some friends computers or cyber cafe and check tht ur website is still working..

my point was tht if we constaly increase the load on wamp server just like i said click 4 or 5 time to open the website intances from proxy servers [f9t.net]..

it cause overload my wamp server.. if u wanna try this tell 4 or 5 friends of ur to access ur website atonce at the same moment.

and then check that still ur apache server in wamp manger is alive or not.. coz if there will be users accessing ur website from different IP at once then the wamp server will be down.. in my case..

so i need to know the solution why this is happening.

I see two reasons possible :

1 - you've got another instance of Apache installed on your computer (eather from another pack or a manual install)

2- the scripts you run don't stop. This means that you have an infinite execution somwhere in your code that's why httpd.exe stays in memory.

The problem that you describe has not been reported by anyone else and we've already got > 50 000 installs of the new release of WampServer so I'm quite sure the problem is not on WampServer's side.

yes u r right @ roms i m not talking about the new WAMP SEVRER release..

but the 5.1.7.3 version.

n the thing is i can easily stop all the services normally when i use WAMP manager.. and all the services all stops..

but when overload or the above described proxy server browses my website in many instances my apache server get corrupted..and at this time it shows tht servie is stopped in WAMP manager but when u exit the wamp manager still u cansee the httpd.exe is running and using port 80.. ( this problem is only when there is overload otherwise in normal condition the httpd.exe exits when i exit the Wamp manager)

Maybe its coz of my computer configuration ( all the specs in my computer is very low) maybe tht is the problem but the only thing i want from u guys is plz check the problem on doing urself on ur experimental PC..

maybe its true or maybe my computer is of low specification tht cannot handle more traffic at once

My servers are live and hosting for a numerous websites which result a numerous accesses per second, not just per day; they're all up and running for years using wamp since version 1.4.x until now mostly w/o any problem; mostly because it's still down sometimes for major maintenance, so I don't need to ask friend to check it for me because they're all using my servers now for a lot of different purposes than just websites.
