Conflict / Service Status / Solved

SOLVED - noticed that the expert on this forum keeps asking "Do you have more than one copy of MySQL Server installed on your computer?"
I thought I had just one .. but a windows explorer search for file names including "mysql" showed that I had more than one .. even after I had uninstalled MySQL server.
accordingly, I deleted the remaining folders, keeping the mysql folders installed by WAMP5
SOLVED .. now the service starts and now there are no conflicting message as to the status of the service
