Verbat maybe it will work for you:

At first apache on my WAMP was not starting.
Second time when I was installing WAMP on my Windows Vista, I did not configure firewall or windows defender (and yes it is enabled).

All I have done to make my WAMP work:

1. Uninstall WAMP
2. Right mouse click on setup file wamp5_1.7.3.exe and click "Run as administrator".
3. Install WAMP, at some stage of installation Windows Vista asks if you want to block httpd (apache), and you have to click NO.
4. Thats it, everything should work for you smiling smiley

I'm using Windows Vista Ultimate :-)

Try to edit my.ini from wampmanager. I had a flawless install, only to find out that my install path in my.ini was incorrect. Everything else installed just fine, but my.ini pointed mysql dir to another disc (eg. C:\wamp\ instead of e:\wamp\). So, i just edited my.ini with correct disc path, and mysqld-nt.exe fired up correctly.

Hope this helps!
