phpMyAdmin Confusion

I just downloaded WAMP5 today (I couldn't get MySQL to work when I installed everything manually), and when I opened phpMyAdmin, I get the following message:

"Your configuration file contains settings (root with no password) that correspond to the default MySQL privileged account. Your MySQL server is running with this default, is open to intrusion, and you really should fix this security hole."

I created the config.inc.php, added my username (root) and password, to no avail. To me this error seems like it's saying I didn't add a password. Heres what my config.inc.php looks like (with the password changed, of course):

<?php
$i=1;
$cfg['Servers'][$i]['auth_type'] = 'http';
$cfg['Servers'][$i]['host'] = 'localhost';
$cfg['Servers'][$i]['password'] = 'fakepassword';
?>

Thanks, but I already got it thanks to this guide: [lists.mysql.com] and the phpMyAdmin docs, all of the errors went away and now all I need to do is try to get PHP to connect to a database smiling smiley

you seem to have missed my point. read my manual again. it shows how to add a passowrd for the root user and how to update the phpmyadmin config file to use that new login info. phpmyadmin comes with its own config file, you dont make your own.
