strange typing http://rackshack.net/ leads me to my local wamp server

This is the strangest behaviour i have ever seen
Typing [rackshack.net] directly opens up the localhost
I have wamp installed and i can see the wamp startup page. The browser still shows [rackshack.net] in the address bar

This had earlier happened with another website which is also a very reputed website (like godaddy or yahoo but not the number one...what i am trying to say that these sites can never be down) Typing [www.rackshack.net] does not open any page even though they seem to be the number two host after rackspace.

Is it a problem with Wamp. I have kaspersky internet security installed. I am a not a noob when it comes to the net and am sure I have not downloaded any adware or malware. I also scan my system with spybot search and destroy and adware.

I also checked my host file in the windows directory and there are no extra entries.

Has anyone faced this problem Please help

This is because of rackshack.net's configuration. If you make an A type query on a dns for this domain name, you will receive 127.0.0.1 which point on your localhost. This means that this domain name will always point on your localhost.

Thank you romain. It never occured to me to check the A records. I got this in of the hosting directories as the no2 hosting company. But i believe this domain is a part of myplanet.

Thanks for clearing this out. i was paranoid that i had some kind of virus of spyware on my system
