absolute paths on localhost

I built an HTML CSS site with a FLASH menu at the top of the page; the bottom of the page has TEXT links for site navigation. I built the site using relative links and then added a news page (WORDPRESS) in a seperate folder. For FLASH and SEO reasons, I then changed my FLASH and TEXT page links to absolute links (http://www.websitename.com/news/websitename-news.htm).

Now my LOCALHOST does not navigate through the site, it goes to the WWW and links to the live site. Can I have both? Can the WAMP sever (localhost) be configured to use the absolute paths and still use the web with the WAMP server still running?

My computer uses XP Media Center Edition with WAMP 1.6.6
Thanks in advance.
Greg

Any one got a clue on this one?

I played with aliases, but never got them to work with absolute paths.
