500 Internal Server Error??

When I try to run some php scripts, I get a 500 Internal Server Error.
The http.conf file says:
"Invalid command 'RewriteEngine', perhaps misspelled or defined by a module not included in the server configuration"
I have been using wampserver for a while and never got an error like this. Can anybody make sense of this?

you must have installed a script that needs mod_rewrite enabled. this topic has been answered before, search this forum for mod_rewrite

Well, I`ve enabled "mod_rewrite" module but the script doesn't work.
The error is: " Internal Server Error
The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.
Please contact the server administrator, webmaster@localhost and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.
More information about this error may be available in the server error log. "
Any idea that what could be?

restart apache after changing the httpd.conf file for the new changes to take effect.
