i'm attempting to use this file to rewrite URL's, im 99% sure its the document root im getting wrong if anyone can help,

RewriteEngine On
RewriteRule !\.(gif|jpg|png|css|html|js|ico|php|rss|xml|gz|mpg|swf|avi|wma|mp3|wmv|mov)$ D:\wamp\www\index.php
as soon as i save that file to my root i get internal server error =), if anyone has come accross this problem it would be much appreciated, thanks
