phpmyadmin+ Norton+root user

Don't know if this helps anyone, but after tearing my hair out trying to get phpmyadmin opened, or get in with user 'root' on the MySQL console, for some reason I tried switching off Norton temporarily and guess what - I can now get into phpmyadmin and into MySQL console with user 'root' and a blank password (just hit enter when prompted for the password). It was Norton's configuration that was blocking my attempts to use user/password of root/''.

I can now proceed to change the password to close the exposure as is detailed by so many other helpful posts.

When I figure out the changes needed to Norton to allow the two to co-exist I shall update this posting, but meantime so long as you are not actually connected to the outside world it does no harm to disable Norton temporarily while you do this on your PC.

Hope this helps.....

As mentioned in the reply for you in other post, setup to enable port 80 in all firewalls and forward port 80 in router if using router and want accessible from outside LAN.

Have fun

I already have port 80 in the enabled port list in Norton, so something more is needed. I am still looking.

Check in the list of full access programs and see if apache, mysql, php, wampapache and wampmysql in there or not?
