Wampserver is for developers, so I can't post the detail here; therefore, I'm in the progress to have the full detail how-to "guide to host your own server at home for newbie" on my site [webserver.jlbn.com], in which covers:
1. Setup wampserver
a. New install
b. Upgrade
c. Setup password
2. Setup port in firewall
3. Setup port in router
4. Setup cgi-bin folder for each user to have his own
5. Setup domain and sub domain
6. Setup phpMyAdmin's Central Copy, in which each user has to provide a set of username and password to login MySQL database through phpMyAdmin; then, (s)he can only uses her/his assigned database only, and of course unable to see and/or access the others' databases.
7. Setup mail server
8. Setup web mail
9. Setup ftp server
10. Setup some other add-on such as ssl, joomla, php nuke, mediawiki, wordpress, awstats, so on

For the advanced users, these guides are nothing, but hope they come in handy for the newbies.

Have fun

Oh, sorry! I'm still working on it, but in my very little free time; actually, I'm busy for playing, I mean testing, w/ mod_ssl (for authentication), mod_security (for intruder alert), and mod_private (for member area protection). I've already got them installed but just test for setup and run properly.

You know if you just use wamp for developing, you really don't care much about these, but if your sites are accessible worldwide, these mod's come in handy.

Anyway, what part of above list you'd like to know?

hey yfatstud,

I am sorta new to networking, whatever i know i've learned from the job i am in now. I have a lot of database and programming knowledge but very little networking. I have setup an internal network at my house and i can see webpages i have on my laptop becuase i have wamp on it. Now how would i go about having it so The whole world can see it. I have a router provided by my isp, then i got another router a linksys and i got my computers hooked up to it. Now what steps do i need to take to have it be shown on the internet. I guess i'm asking almost the same question as the other guy. Of course when i can put stuff on the internet from my internal network then i'm gonna get better server programs. But let me know. Thanks bud.

linksys? it's used to be famous, but not nowadays and I personally don't like it because it's a little more difficult when comes to setup for server.

He... he... ;-) everybody eager to have their site up for the whole world to see and really don't care much about security at all... until, YES UNTIL, their boxes are down permanent for sure or FED knock their doors; then, they might turn around and complain that "Oh man! That guy didn't mention anything about hackers' and spammers' spy bots...";

Tell me, you're good in programming so you might already coded or had soft to protect your server when it's up? Me? I'm still working on it because my servers are hacked recently, and the problem is it's not from my friends but from someone I don't know and now my primary server is completely down, yet you still can access my sites but from my secondary; however, I think about shut down the rest 2, secondary and backup, until find out what cause knocked down my primary. Anyway, while waiting for my guide is up, check my old post here to see if you can get some good tips

well in order to send something out over the internet you have to configure your network card or your router. If you have a router open up port 80 and forward to the machine on which a webserver is running. otherwise i think you can just put your gateway as your isp router and your ip address in the subnet of that gateway you have. if you want me to clarify let me know. Thanks.

Thanks yfatstd,

i appreciate the warning, i just wanted to know how to do it that's all. now i've figured out how to show the entire world a site on my computer on my internal network. I did turn it off, cuz now the step is to learn network security. So you gonna have that up on your site too? The earlier was in response to the first guy's post, i didn't see that you put anything up. Alright well thanks bro, much appreciated. So what can you tell me about security?

I've already had that part in my old post here, but it seems people don't want to search before post.

Already been using mod_ssl, mod-security, mod_private, and also some setting, but still...
Maybes I've always searched and used free stuff only... I don't know what to say...
