I'm using WAMP 1.6.6 on Win XP
I have a Bipac 7300 Router setup with Virtual server to redirect incoming requests on port 80 to the internal IP address.

I'm using a dynamic dns too - I believ it's set up correctly.

When I put my "domain" in - basil.dyn-o-saur.com into the browser, it redirects to [localhost]

In my httpd.conf file, I can't find reference to that anywhere:
I have in the file:
Listen 80
ServerName basil.dyn-o-saur.com:80

I've checked httpd.conf for some config that would redirect to localhost - where I was testing before trying to go live.

Any suggestions on where I've gone wrong please?

When did you setup your dns? If it's right as your believe, you should wait from 6-72hrs so it can propagate the traffic through.

Your setup's not right because it should go to where you expecte it to go such as my signature. It's not just httpd.conf only but the combine of both dns and vh

Here's my troubleshooting logic.

When I type the URL in, it loads my Apache server. So, I figure the DNS is ok - it only redirects to my ISP assigned IP anyway.

So I figure it either my Virtual Host, or Apache.

My Virtaul Host tells traffic to go to 192.xx.xx.xx to look for a server. It seems to find a server.

That's why I think it's a problem in my pache config - but I can't see where.
Obviously I could be wrong.

Just outlining the process of troubleshooting I tried to undertake

I have a question, How do you setup a DNS ect??

I got dns software on my computer but can't find out how to use it on the internet??

I went to [www.dyndns.com] and got a free dynamic dns account.

I then setup my ADSL router to use Virtual Server and port forward any incoming requests on port 80 to point back to my WAMP installation.

My router also had a configuration for Dynamic DNS - and it supports [www.dyndns.com].

I have a Billion Bipac 7300.

In short that's it. My problem, as it turned out, was never with the dynamic DNS, but with some html redirects on had on my web page.

Another hint - your router has a built in server. JChange it's port to something like port 8080. That means when you login to it, you'll have to type in a URL like 192.168.0.100:8080
