install php 4

I have downloaded the php 4 addon but when i switch from the php 5 to php 4 the database(myphpadmin stops to work, cant reach it) does anyone have a clue what that can be wrong?

the reason i need this is because i want to use MX-system with a phpb forum but for mx you need php 4

this is what the mysql says: MySQL sa: Dokumentation
#1251 - Client does not support authentication protocol requested by server; consider upgrading MySQL client

i hope this is the right place to ask things like this smiling smiley I am a newb in programming php, thats why i need some help tongue sticking out smiley

search this forum for OLD_PASSWORD. mysql 5 uses an authentication protocol based on a password hashing algorithm that is incompatible with that used by older (pre-4.1) clients. you can fix that though using OLD_PASSWORD
