i have tried using wamp5 for serving me the optional grafics pack
from a browser game (see [dieherrscher.de] and related forums)
but found that images bigger than some 64 kB will never get
served to their end. for several images only the upper part
of the grafics will pop up in the browser.

i checked it with the game itselves and by browsing the
"project" on my local machine trough the apache.
in both cases i got the very same buggy behaviour.

the bad end was that the apache2 was steadily using up cpu powers
after only the very first of those download attempts.
(i noticed and checked this with the windows task manager)
i had to restart apache2 to get my system "cool down" once again.

No idea either. Turning those ugly F-Secure off for testing was not changing it.

I am running the server instances on a ports >1000.
I doubt that it will make much difference changing it,
but what else could it be? As its not comfortable i have to fight it.
