MySQL username/password

I'm trying to intsall SMF (http://www.simplemachines.org) but I need to inser my MySQL database username and passsword.

Yhing is, I have no idea what those are... help? I tried leaving it in blank, but it didn't work.

the default mysql root user has no password set, so leave the password blank

mysql_connect ('localhost', 'root', '');
