Hi,
I'm trying to install "phpopenchat" from [phpopenchat.org].

I receive the error

Forbidden
You don't have permission to access /"admin/install.php/" on this server.
--------------------------
Operating System: WinXP pro

you should post this question in the phpopenchat support site.

PHPopenchat is not the only package. I get the same error while installing other scripts.

If I try to uncheck the read-only permission of the folder (where it has to be installed), it accepts the settings. But if I check the properties again.. its back again to the "read-only" permission.

I'd like to know if there's any setting in wamp to do this or any other consoles?

that is a windows problem, not wamp.

can you pls give me a clue on this.? what should i be doing?

do not set any readonly or hidden file permissions on any files or folders

ok! then how do i set the access to those folders..?

dont worry file permissions on windows. just leave everything as is.

Okay. So how do I avoid the error and get the installation started.

Try right clicking the phpopenchat folder in the web root (c:\wamp\www\phpopenchat(?)) and select properties.

Uncheck the 'Read-only' checkbox, then click Apply. Choose 'apply changes to sub folders' and than OK.

Then try editing your file.

Thank you for the reply. I tried that. When I click on the "Apply" and "OK" button it works fine. But, if i check the property again it reverts back to "Read Only"
