Installation of Wamp Server

Hi,

I'm planning to install wamp on my computer (Windows 10 professional - 64 bits) with the latest wamp full package for the 64 bits version (3.3.0).

I will need to use PHP 5.6 as my starting point in order to do a test migration from joomla 2.5 to joomla 4. I am seeing that I will need the PHPmy admin version 4.9.11 in order to be able to run PHP 5.6. If I install the latest version of wamp, it comes with PHP myadmin 5.2.1 .Will it be ok to install PHP my admin 4.9.11 after I've run the latest full installation package for wamp (3.3.0)? Meaning that I'll have two PHP myadmin versions (4.9.11 and 5.2.1) running at the same time. Or will installing both versions of PHP my admin cause issues?

Also, I'm seeing that I need to install all versions of Visual C++ in both the 64 bits version and the 32 bits version. is it the case also with any other add on I install? For example, if I install PHP 5.6, do I need to install the 64 bits version as well as the 32 bits version?

Thank you!

Hi,

On https://wampserver.aviatechno.net/ what is indicated under the PhpMyAdmin 4.9.11 line?

« PhpMyAdmin 4.9.11 - Latest version supported by PHP 5.5 to 7.4
This version can be added to an existing version, you will have the choice during the installation »

No, you don't need to install PHP 5.6.40 in 32 and 64 bit. In fact, you'll only be able to install the 32-bit version if you have a 32-bit Wampserver installation.

Regarding VCRedist redistributables, PHP 5.6.40 is compiled with VC11, so for correct operation, VC11 redistributables must be installed.

- Verify that all VC ++ packages are installed and with the latest versions.
To do this, use the tool:
Checks VC++ packages installed
Do not use a previously loaded tool. Make a new download to make sure you are using the correct version.
To download missing packages, do not rely on Microsoft links, they are not reliable, download packages on http://wampserver.aviatechno.net in section Visual C++ Redistribuable Packages
Do not forget that if you have a 64 bit Windows, you must install both 32 and 64 bit versions of each package.
You must install each package "as an administrator", so right-click the exe file and then run as Administrator.

On http://wampserver.aviatechno.net in section Visual C++ Redistribuable Packages
See Best way to install Visual C++ Redistributable Packages

- If it is not already done, apply Update 3.3.1 to your version of Wampserver
