I really hope someone has the patience to explain this to me.
I just downloaded WAMP and have been trying to open it
but when I try to pull up localhost I get prompted for a username and password.

I have tried looking for the answer but most seem to assume I have access to localhost to go in and set passwords. I have gone into dreamweaver and looked at the code but I'm not sure I am doing it correctly (obviously I am not).

any help would be greatly appreciated.

thanks

are you using WAMP, or something different? WAMP does not have any password protection when you try to access localhost. If you get a login box, then it is because you put a htaccess in your document root folder c:\wamp\www or you are using a different package then WAMP.

My guess is that you have IIS installed and that is what you are hitting. Verify that IIS is not installed or change either Apache or IIS to use different IPs or ports.
