localhost not available

Hi,

I had prepared a .htaccess for uploading on the online server because of change to SSL and had forgotten to delete it in the local installation. I deleted it after I realized that WAMP server closes down after all services are started.

Now when I start WAMP server it works, but I cannot access localhost through any of my browsers. The message that appears in the browser says "Client sent an HTTP request to an HTTPS server."
When I start localhost through the tray icon it does work to get to the usual localhost page but when I click on either of the hosts I am told "dial tcp: lookup caipirinhas on 127.0.0.11:53: no such host"
I did not change the settings in Joomla in the local installation as I don't have a SSL certificate locally.

I can access 2 of my homepages locally to work on them but not the one in which I only changed online to SSL.
When I want to login locally into that page with "localhost/myhomepage/administrator" I am redirected to an online URL [www.caipirinhas.netcaipirinhas]. This happens when I use the bookmark or when I type in the login location manually, and with all browsers.

Windows 10 build 19044.1889 64 bit, WAMP Server vers. 3.2.9 (32 and 64 bit installed)
Apache 2.4.46
PHP 7.4.9
MySQL 8.0.21

Thank you very much in advance for your assistance, kind regards
Gerda

Hi,

NO.
For your local sites you must use VirtualHost.
See :
The need for Virtual Host
and
Wampserver 3 - Create or add a VirtualHost
and
Why to create a VirtualHost BEFORE installing a CMS

> "Client sent an HTTP request to an HTTPS server."
Wampserver never forces the use of https.
Either it is a .htaccess file which makes the redirection towards https
Or it is the settings of your browser that require https
You must also empty your browser's cache.

Hi,

I am using WAMP since 2017 and I do have virtual hosts for 4 homepages. Until 28 Aug. 2022 WAMP Server worked well. All my homepages are installed locally and online.

After I had set in the backend of only my online installation "enforce HTTPS" all this happened. I have no .htaccess in the root and never had one there. I never touched the local installation as for HTTPS because I have no local certificate, I only bought three at my hoster which they installed in 3 of my 4 URLs.

My browser caches got emptied.

Still WAMP Server does not work anymore in the way that I can enter to the interface and go to work in my databases.

Thank you, kind regards
Gerda

To work on your databases, you can use PhpMyAdmin.

And I repeat that Wampserver can't force to have an https access and is - basically - an http server and not an https server.

On the other hand, a browser can require - in its settings - to have an https access and also a proxy or a VPN.

As I cannot get to the main site of WAMP with localhost, I am of course also unable to get to phpmyadmin. And I don't know why WAMP acts like this. Something went wrong and it is fact that I have these problem.

It's ok that I can't get help. I will try if a system recover helps.

Bye
