WampServer

3 - Apache Version 2.4.18
4 - PHP Version 5.6.19
5 - MySQL Version 5.7.11
6 - WampServer icon Green

Downloaded the Wampserver3 package yesterday. Installed no problem, no changes; straight install.
Server Running
PHP working
PHPinfo() looks good
phpmyadmin working, but I can't sign in using root. #1045 - Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: NO)

I've uninstalled and reinstalled both 32bit wamp and 64bit wamp. No change.

Even tried this to set the password to a value, no change: [dev.mysql.com]

The root password is blank after the initial install.

Use username = root
password = blank

Yes, and as I stated with " (using password: NO)" I indicated that I attempted to sign in with a blank password.

It did not work.

Then it is likely that you have 2 MYSQL Servers installed on your system, and the one that did not come with WAMPServer is starting automatically and therefore is the one being used.This other one will have a password set for the root account.

I had a previous version of WinLAMP installed and had faith that the uninstall would remove it all.
