This post on the English site was a bit of a surprise.

I have never seen this before and I did not even know about this runtime. Does this mean that something in the latest WS3 has been compiled in a way that we need to suggest people install this runtime on non W10 systems?

No. Wampserver is a renamed Aestran Tray Menu program in which original icons are replaced by Wampserver icons. The last version of Aestran Tray Menu is 1.6.2 on 2008.

At this time, Windows 10 and specific compilers for Windows 10 did not exist, so this runtime is for programs compiled by compiler using Windows 10 Universal CRT release to run on earlier Windows operating systems ; this is not the case of Wampserver.

May be the case for latest PHP or MySQL version, but I use them and I don't see this problem.

Hi,

A priori, it was installed without my intervention, by Windows Update, because all files for Windows 7 64bit, listed on the Microsoft page on this runtime are present on my system.

I would say that those who do not have these files have not made Windows Update or hidden them.
