WAMP Behind a Firewall, no internet connection!

Hi there,

I have WAMP installed on Win7 which is connected to the internet via http proxy. the proxy server is 172.18.2.47 on port 8080.

I have wordpress installed on WAMP. but Wordpress is unable to connect to the internet!

so the schema is: (WAMP) ---> (172.18.2.47:8080) ---> (Internet)

is there some kind of Apache config that needs to be done in order to enable Wordpress to connect to the internet?

I think this is more of a WP problem that a WAMP issue, try the WP help site.

Strange thing is that even though I did define port 8080 in WP-config i still get the error: (Failed connect to wordpress.org:80) why is wordpress trying to connect though port 80 ?!

Probably because wordpress.org like all standard web servers listen on port 80.
