Backup & Recovery for Windows Upgrade

Hello,
I'm looking to upgrade my OS from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10.

I use WAMP for Wordpress sites only at this point. If I plan on re-installing everything in the same location, which folders do I need to back up other than the www folder in order to keep my sites working? Do I need to adjust database information, if so, how? I'm a complete MySql newbie.

Thank you for your help!
Stefanie

Hi,

See : Install a new release of Wampserver

It is not exactly for updating system, but the method is the same.

Backup your databases. The one and only way to backup databases is to export into SQL file.

As you change System, may be you should also install last version of Wampserver : Wampserver 3.0.0

And, to avoid problems and dysfunctions, especially with Wordpress or Joomla (But these are not the only ones), they should be used VirtualHost: The need for Virtual Host

Documentation Apache - Documentation PHP - Documentation MySQL - Wampserver install files & addons

Hi
You gave me lots of work and reading (this is great) and I shall get to it. I will check back if I run into anything else.

Thank you!
Stefanie
