Amoral,

If your wamp manager icon is orange it is telling you that either the Apache or MySQL service has not been started.

If you try to Put Online when Apache is not running you will get that error message as Putting Online attempts to stop and restart Apache, and of course fails because it is cannot stop it because it is not started. So thats just a symptom of the original problem.

First thing to do is identify which service has not started.

The simple way is to use the wamp manager menus,

Its most likely, but not definitely, Apache thats the problem.

left click the wamp manager icon -> Apache -> Service
and look at the menu item 'Start Resume Serice', if it is green and clickable then its Apache that has not started.

Now do :-
left click the wamp manager icon -> Apache -> Apache error log

This will open the error log in notepad, look for any errors.

If none are obvious then also look at the windows event viewer, if errors have occired before Apache can get as far as writing to its own error log, errors are reported in here, in the 'Windows Logs -> Applications' section

If you cannot work out whats wrong paste a FEW of the errors here and we can have a look.
