I am also having trouble starting Apache in wamp 1.6. Prior to installing wamp I was using sokkit to provide the apache installation. I uninstalled sokkit and verified that the services have been removed. I have cleaned out the registry and installed and uninstalled wamp multiple times.

When I 3execute the install_services bat file manually I receive the following errors:

C:\WAMP>install_services

C:\WAMP>.\apache2\bin\apache.exe -k install -n wampapache
(OS 10048)Only one usage of each socket address (protocol/network address/port) is normally permitted. : make_sock: could not bind to address 0.0.0.0
:80
no listening sockets available, shutting down
Unable to open logs

How do I find out what is blocking port 80.

If you are using Skype, tell it to NOT look at port 80 (Tools-options-connections) that worked for me.

What if i don't use Skype? Can someone please help me solve this problem?
I only use MSN on my computer, but it has been up and running without any problems with MSN.

This is what i found out so far:

1 simple thing
Apache fails to install!
The service doesn't install at all!

Had the same problem on 2k3 web edition.
Noticed that IIS Admin service was started.

Stopped service and installed apache via wamp console.
Everything is working fine now

Thank you. In my case Skype was also causing the problem.

i just installed it and its not wokring at all
