changed www directory - WordPress permalinks broken

Win 8.1 | WAMP 2.5 | Clean WordPress install 4.2.3.
Installed WAMP on C:/wamp - changed document root to d:/wamp/www in httpd.conf
Install WP - All fine.
HOWEVER
When permalink settings changed from anything but default (to post name for example) all pages except Home 404.
Can anybody please advise? Thanks.

Fixed - had to enable Apache mod_rewrite in httpd.conf:
# LoadModule rewrite_module modules/mod_rewrite.so
# LoadModule rewrite_module modules/mod_rewrite.so

It would have been better to use the VirtualHost: [forum.wampserver.com]
