Well, Im officially stumped. Ive tried everything listed here, even setting up virtual hosts, and same issue.
UNABLE TO CONNECT TO DATABASE

Im thinking its something with my machine: why would both XAMPP and WAMP have the same messages- obviously running separately, but same results??

Can any one help?? Ive checked here, youtube, Lynda.com, and absolutely no progress.

im guessing here::java? firewall settings?( I have it shut off) admin mode??

Hi,

Thank you not to create more discussion to the same problem.
You do not do as much as needed.

- 1 - Completely uninstall Wamp, Xampp and all the other stuff you have installed.
- 2 - Remove any trace: files, folders, services of such software
- 3 - Install all the required packages VC.
- 4 - Reboot
- 5 - Install WampServer 2.5 32-bit, even on a 64-bit Windows.
- 6 - Check that everything works correctly: localhost and phpMyAdmin
- 7 - Create the folder for Wordpress
- 8 - Create VirtualHost for localhost AND Wordpress
- 9 - Create the database necessary for Wordpress
- 10 - Install Wordpress.

he VirtualHost Wordpress MUST EXIST and be valid BEFORE installing Wordpress.

Now I read somewhere that if I see this, things are working...BUT there was two settings thaet needed tweaking and I cant seem to remember what those were........

After that, Im back to square one.....

Please do a search for 'my.ini' and 'my.cnf' on your C: drive ( or which ever drive windows is installed on )

Sometimes a rouge version of these files gets installed in C:windows ( but search the whole drive )

MySQL looks in C:\windows and a few other places for its ini file and if you have tried installing MySQL some other way, some lazy installs put it in here.

If you find any, NOT in the \wamp\bin\mysql\mysqlx.y.z folder(s) delete them. Then try restarting MySQL
