I'm currently using wampserver 2.0. Should I uninstall wampserver 2.0 before installing wamp5 or can I use both versions as needed?

WAMP 5 is older than WampServer 2.0. Dont go in that direction.

Thanks for the catch. I'll upgrade to Wampserver 2.4 instead.

Are there any issues with maintaining Wampserver 2.0 and Wampserver 2.4 simultaneously as installed programs?

Can I use them simultaneously without a conflict?

NO

Back all your databases up to sql first. Then restore on new MySQL.
backup all your sites as well just in case.

When you run the uninstall does it remove the www directory?

No, the uninstall only removes files that the install placed on your disk that have not been changed since the install.

HOWEVER dont rely on that. Make a backup

Also once the install is done you should manually delete the wamp folder and all sub folders.

So Make a backup

Ok thanks for confirmation, I've got SVN setup on this folder so need it to stay where it is. Here's what I did to update successfully for anyone in the same situation who might find it useful:

1. Make a backup of www and databases
2. Run unins000.exe
3. Remove all files from C:\wamp directory except www
4. Run the new install.exe
5. Import SQL back into phpmyadmin

Wamp then ran fine, cheers for the support.
