WampServer

I'm using W7 and Wampserver 2, and I can't open localhost. When I try to access it, all I get is blank screen. I've already changed Apache listening port to 8080, but still no luck. My icon is green but the problem remains.
What should I do?

Ok so change apache back to port 80.

Look in the 'apache error log' and 'apache access log' for some information about the problem

Report back if you cannot sort it for yourself ( dont paste all message from those files just select a few )

I would like to continue this topic. I, too, was getting the blank screen. Turns out Skype was using port 80 as well as Apache. So I closed Skype, restarted the services and it works.

I'd like to have both Skype and Apache running so I'm guessing I need to change the port on one or the other. Knowing nothing about Skype, I attempted to change the port that Apache listens on to port 81 by opening httpd.conf and changing the listen parameter to 81.

Now it's not working again but I get an error message "The page cannot be displayed"

Any advice appreciated

Move Apache back to port 80.

This is how to configure skype to stop it using port 80, dont worry it has no effect on its functionality.


How to Configure SKYPE so it does not require port 80 or 443

Run SKYPE
then using the menus do this:

Tools -> Options -> Advanced -> Connection

Un-Check the checkbox next to 'Use port 80 and 443 as alternatives for incomming connections'
