MySQL upgrade tutorial- question

I am trying to do the MySQL upgrade tutorial. Currently I am running MySQL version 5.5.24 on WAMPSERVER. I am unclear on some wording in the tutorial. The person who wanted the tutorial was wanting to, as I am, upgrade from 5.5.24 to 5.6.10 (the latest release I think). Now, the tutorial suggests navigating in the command line, to the folder of the 'latest release 5.5.28'... I am confused as I did not download and put into my WAMP directory alongside the current folder (5.5.24) the 5.5.28 release, I downloaded and unpacked into a folder called 5.6.10 the 5.6.10 release. Is it possible to go from 5.5.24 to 5.6.10 or do we have to do the step in between, using 5.5.28? At any rate, I tried entering the upgrade code later in the tutorial, from the directory having 5.6.10 as it's final folder but still got error messages involving needing a 'super user'. Such fun smiling smiley

The tutorial used 5.2.28 as an example. where you see 5.2.28 think 5.6.10.... Duh

No you can go from what you were using to what you want to use.... unless MySQL details on upgrading say not to.

You should place the new mysql in the same WAMP folder structure or wamp wont be able to find it.
So you should have a c:\wamp\bin\mysql\mysql5.5.10 folder into which you put the code downloaded from the Oracle( MySQL ) site.
