Hi Followers,

I have recently installed a wamp server on my computer. I have a few individuals that would like to help me build there website. I am using wordpress and i would like to know how i can give them access to my local host. It's difficult trying to meet them every other day to go over the site, so I would like to have it available for them to see. I also dont want to site to be found by bots.

How can I grant them access to view the site from their computer?

Thanks,
MP

should they judst see the site?

or be able to see the files also?

if you want them to be able to help with the design, then you will probalby need to use dropbox or googledrive to store the files and db, and then get them all to install wamp.

if its just to see the site, then left click wamp> put online,
you may need to open port 80 in your router firewall.

in the www folder add a .htaccess file with usernames and below the www put a htpass file.

you can find more about .htaccess for password protecting folders in the apache docs

I only want them to view the site. Not help with any design aspects. If I put it online will it be indexed by search engines?mp

its VERY VERY unlikey you will get indexed at all , because you will only have an ip and if nothing is linking from the internet to that ip , then wont crawl it.

Also you can turn wamp online/offline easily if you dont need it online.

in the unlikely event that it gets indexed, they will only index a blank white 403 error page because you will have setup the htaccess.

Search the web using terms like .htaccess and .htpasswd

there are lots of tutorials and even .htpasswd generators
