Hi all,

I’m trying to get the hang of creating themes in wordpress and I was following a tutorial when I deleted my password for mysql database @localhost.

After searching a way to reset the password and attempting numerous possible fixes show non the internet I deïnstalled Wamp and reïnstalled in attempt to fix this.

After the first reïstallation I still wasn’t able to connect with MyPHPAdmin. Then I searched further and tried several possible sollutions e.g. Skype-setting, TCP/IP setings, removing the wamp folder, cleaning registry settings (ccleaner) and reïnstalling Wamp again.

Now I still can’t acces MyPHPAdmin because of the password issue (user ‘root’ @localhost etc.) and the system stray icon for Wamp stays orange.
I’ve tried numerous possible actions to try and get the Wamp server active but it won’t work. I know that there is no conflict on port 80.

It has worked for sometime but that was before I changed the password in the MySQL database panel for the localhost user ‘root’.

Is there some kind of procedure for deleting Wamp and installing it again with a ‘fresh’ installation of MySQL, beacause my guess is that there’s something bugging from the ‘first’ installation?

I really need to get this database up and running because I have to go on with this study.

Would installing Xampp help me out on the MySQL -database issue?

When you uninstall WAMP, you then have to manually go and delete the C:\wamp folder and all its subfolders afer the uninstall finishes.

This is because wamp wont remove anything you create or change after the install.

If you dont do this, when you re-install it wont overwrite whats already there, so mysql's own database does not get replaced and therefore your error never gets overwritten.

I've deleted the c:\wamp folder in both cases. Asswell cleaned up possible registry entries.

So the possible sollution you've posted is not working in my case.
