"You don't have permission to access /www/ on this server" Vista Norton

I receive this message if I enter "Localhost/www/": "You don't have permission to access /www/ on this server."

Localhost, phpmyadmin, sqlbuddy and webgrind all work.

I installed wamp to c:/wamp on a VISTA pc with NORTON 360; added the C:wamp/www/ alias.

I have limited understanding of permissions on VISTA and I'm just starting to study php.

I've tried reading through existing posts, reading the responses as best I can. I've tried editing hosts but not given the option to 'edit as administrator'. Don't understand the need to disconnect from the web or the 222 numeric references.

Have you heard the one about the guy who goes to the doctor with a sore arm?

Patient: 'Doctor when I raise my arm above my head it hurts'.

Doctor: 'Well dont raise your arm above your head then....'

To be serious though, Dont use that address as it does not exists.

Localhost points to the folder 'c:\wamp\www'

So when you enter localhost/www you are actually telling Apache to look for a folder called c:\wamp\www\www and unless you create that folder it does not exists!

PS. If you want to create little test sites for your learning process, create folders under the c:\wamp\www folder like c:\wamp\www\site1 and then address them like you tried to as

localhost/site1
localhost/site1

And so on.
