I downloaded and installed Wampserver (64 bits & PHP 5.3) 2.2E on win7 64 bit. The install seemed to be fine however the program wont launch. I double click on the desktop icon and nothing happens.

Have you got an icon in the system tray that looks like a W in a round cornered box.

If so each time you try and run the desktop icon it will attempt to start is again and then it will automatically terminate.

If you see the W icon that is wamp, it should be GREEN, but if it is ORANGE you have a problem.

Get back to us if you see the icon in the system tray. If its ORANGE we can then solve that problem

If the icon is orange then probably Apache has not started propery.

This is normally because some other app has grabbed port 80 before you get to start wamp.

Run this to find out what it is:

left click on wampmanager -> Apache -> Service -> Test port 80

this will load a command window and report what is using port 80.

Whatever it is needs to be re-configured to stop it using port 80 ( like skype or TeamViewer .... )
or uninstalled if you are not using it ( like IIS )

If you get problems let me know what is reported as using port 80

I cant even do that. I try to launch the app and all I get is an "about' window with the author's credentials but it doesn't run. I right clicked the system tray icon (orange) and it give me a menu with about, help, language and exit

OK - sorry.. It says that port 80 is being used by IIS. I can't unstall IIS as I am developing other sites in .NET that I need. How can I change the port # for apache?

thanks for your patience

Well if you understand IIS, while you want to use Apache stop IIS and let Apache use port 80. When you want to go back to IIS dont start Apache and start IIS.
