Hi Thank you very much for your waspish tolerance of my inability to understand and follow your instructions. The icon is indeed now green! I find that the last two lines of C:\windows\.........\etc\hosts ARE (after spybot entries.......): 127.0.0.1 local host ::1 local host Do you really mean that there should be two lines ONLY in this file? Thank you

Thank you for drawing my attention to tools. I am totally green .... The problem appears to be with Port 3308. I have tried Ports 3307 and 3308; and also inverted with 3306 to no avail. The message I receive on testing is ***** Test which uses port 3308 ***** ===== Tested by command netstat filtered on port 3308 ===== Test for TCP Your port 3308 is used by a processus with PID = 14

My WAMP icon remains stubbornly red. When I go into systems tray (windows 10, 64 bit)) I get the message that all applications are running, but there is an error message: "The C:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts file has 15616 lines" i.e. too long.
