After seeing the following error message in MySQL Console... mysql> show databases; ERROR 1820 (HY000): You must reset your password using ALTER USER statement before executing this statement. mysql> I was able to regain access to the databases by changing the password of the root user in MySQL console. Additional info: Timestamp on c:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts file with localhost commented out is 1/30/17 but I've successfully accessed MySQL database since that date. I'm unable to log into MySQL via PHPMyAdmin. My local wordpress installations are not functioning.
