By "authenticating" I mean the login dialog for "Connect to mySql Server instance". After I click OK, I get a msg box error msg (see first thread). Once I click OK to that msg box, I'm inside mySql Administrator, just like the screenshot you referenced. I simply want to know what the cause and remedy to that message is. Rick
