Steven Martin told me to install WAMP 32 bit as a fix for the cURL problems I have been having. I did that even though I'm running a 64 bit system. When i go to open up my wordpress site the error message in the above post appears. I also lost access to PHP myAdmin. I really do apologize for all this hassle but as you can tell I'm very new at server stuff. If you want you can look at

changed version of wamp from 64 bit to 32 bit. When trying to log into WP got this message. Your PHP installation appears to be missing the MySQL extension which is required by WordPress. Checked PHP extensions and PHP_mySQL is ticked.

Hi folks, Back with the cURL problem. It is activated, or at least shows it's activated. the snide remark from RiggsFolly really isn't helpful. I actually did try to deactivate it by clicking on the php extension. When I checked to see if it was deactivated, it was still checked. I just checked again and it is deactivated. I guess I should have restarted the service. Thanks for your help and kind words!!!

so i solved the problem with the change if password by going to c/wamp/phpmyadmin3.5.1/config.inc.php and entering the password and leaving allownopassword as true. So now I can get into phpmyadmin but still can't access WordPress site - I get error establishing a database connection message

Hi Steve, I can't seem to stop fooling with my server and am in trouble again after assigning a password to root localhost. I can log in to MySQL console with the password but the database now is disconnected fro my web site and as a result I can't connect to the site.

Hi Steven, Got on line this morning and was unable to access localhost = same problem I started off with yesterday. I believe it has something to do with port 80 which I use for Skype. I closed Skype like yesterday but to no success.

If NO is the password then I did but I have no memory of doing it it must be a default setting. I've been tring to get around this error message but really don't know how.
