Dmacman: To save a file like you want for example open .htaccess_root or .htaccess.txt in the notepad go to save as - in the field type of the file put -all files-. then save it as .htaccess very easy.

If you put in the browser 127.0.0.1 no localhost ... work? If you have a proxy don´t use it for local address. meybe that,s the reason. Go to internet options and connections disable the proxy server for local address. Or maybe is your mysql server configuration

I have a very similar problem. I istalled WAMP5 1.4.4 with PHP5 and PHP 4.3.11 add-on.exe, the home page of phpmyadmin with PHP5 it shows well, but when i switch to PHP4 the fallowing error is shown. Hi people I´m from Cuba, I install wamp for the first time on my computer and my localhost page doesn´t display. When I go to the wamp system tray icon down in the right and click on the localhost page an error appears then I change the address in the browser to [127.0.0.1] and everything is ok. for example doesn´t work but when I change the address to [127.0.0.1] yes everything it´s ok. can a
